So ... I could not wait
So I could not wait two weeks to post. I went to the market and bought these beautiful sunflowers. They were in a box in the produce section. I bought them to brighten up my office. We actually have had rain for the last three days. Ok, we have had drizzle but today it's actually getting to the point of "rain". I brought them home. Here they are in front of other photos I have taken through out the last two years.
I came home yesterday from work to these lovely roses from my husband. A time out
I took a time out and went outside to the front yard. I've been working in the back yard more then the front and I decided to get out there. I feel very overwhelmed with the house and with the yards. Sooooo this will be my last post for two weeks. I need to spend some time outside and inside cleaning. I will reward myself with computer time. Yes that is a little "childish", however thrive off of success and reward, so I'm playing my own game. See you in about two weeks.
We went back...
We went back to get some funnel cake. The one thing that we wanted to eat there yesterday, however never got around to it. Took a few more pictures and then went off to Nunez (Campos) park on the West Side. A different type of crowd. Rock a Billy all the way. Back in my High School days they were called "rebels" and listed to KROQ.
We drove into the West Side.
Most of the people on the west side are Mexican/Chicanos and have been there for generations. My grandmother now lives in the house she was born in. She graduated from San Bernardino High School and her dad used to work for Santa Fe. The rail yard we are crossing in the picture.
We parked and crossed the bridge into the park.
The cars at this show where vintage, but not in "Original" Condition. That's what made this show nice. They were in different conditions and some even stripped down to point they at "least the car ran". We walked around and then came home. This was truly a great weekend so far. Side note... this was actually held on Route 66.

We decided that we would go to the Route 66 Rendezvous for Date night. The "Legendary Mustangs" played for three hours last night. They played the music from the Doors, old Rock and Roll, and stuff from Dan Hicks and the Hot Slicks. Very random but they sounded great.
I grew up around Route 66 in San Bernardino. My dad owns a 54 Chevrolet Bel-Air and a 55 Chevrolet Wagon. Evey year down in Placita park and then at Campos park, the community would hold a Route 66 gathering. It was great. The City took over in 1990, the event was getting too big. With change there always is bumps. Since then those bumps have been ironed out. For example, the "Park" would allow altered vehicles (low riders, chop tops and hydro's) however the new "Route" did not allow for it. That means many of those who participated in the park where now pushed out. Of course with protest and the barrio throwing its own 66 event the rules where changed once more. There is going to be an alternative Route 66 celebration at Campos Park today (Sat). My dad and his friends are taking their cars out that way and will be showing them.
The only issue I do have is we are on the East side of the Freeway. The original Route 66 travels through the West Side of the Freeway... the Barrio. Or as I call it "Where my grandma lives and my grandpa plays dominoes." I understand ...accommodations and space, because it is held in Downtown... which many offices are closed all weekend. So it does may logistical sense.
