Hummingbirds are found only in the Americas.
They are found as far north as southeastern Alaska and as far south as southern Chile.
South America has the biggest variety of hummingbirds and more than half the species are found there. The country of Ecuador in northwestern South America has the largest number of any one country with 163 different species. There are over fifty species that regularly breed in Mexico.

I took these pictures today while outside doing some yard work. Here is my new little friend. He follows me around the garden and and chirps while I sit on the porch. He been in our front yard for a month now and dances in the air for us. (maybe she)
A side note of information - The Nazca Lines are a series of geoglyphs located in the Nazca Desert, a high arid plateau that stretches 53 miles or more than 80 kilometers between the towns of Nazca and Palpa on the Pampas de Jumana in Peru. They were created by the Nazca culture between 200 BC and AD 700. There are hundreds of individual figures, ranging in complexity from simple lines to stylized hummingbirds, spiders, monkeys, fishes, sharks, llamas and lizards.
