Bed Time

“The bed comprehends our whole life, for we were born in it, we live in it, and we shall die in it”
-Guy de Maupassant

A week in photos

Candies before we melted them into candy tiles to top the brownies.

My father works for Santa Fe (now BNSF) and every year he puts up a train under the tree. My mother has added a cute village that grows every year.

My mom and I made 10 dozen or so tamales this year. We made chicken, pork and olive ones this year.

My husband found this cute little hot chocolate mix and put it in my stocking. This is the first year in 10 years that we had stockings. Since there are no grandchildren, my mother still puts together stockings for my brothers, husband, father and myself.

My Christmas and Birthday Gift

Mazzy and Zuko asleep on our new bed and bedding.

My husband saved up some money to buy me the best Christmas/Birthday gift... a new bed. We have been together 11 years and have had the same bed, that he brought into the relationship. For four of those years we were poor Undergraduate/Graduate students, then we turned into "married time to pay the student loans and bills" type of couple. So the man I met in a Chicano Studies class... has now bought us our first "New" bed.

The only thing I will miss about our old bed is that one night he came home late from band practice and was kneeling next to the bed ... he woke me up.... and he asked me to marry him .

He was never at practice that day... he was out with his guitarist/best friend shopping for a ring... I had no idea.
